As a result of an ancient volcanic eruption, 40,000 interlocking basalt columns formed to create the Giant’s Causeway on the North Antrim Coast in Northern Ireland. It was declared a “World Heritage Site” in 1987 and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world.
