Ancient Ireland - The Ballynoe Stone Circle in County Down
Location: Ballynoe Stone Circle, Ballynoe, County Down.

The Ballynoe stone circle is a large circle of over 50 standing stones, some as large as 2 metres high and is located near the town of Ballynoe in County Down. It is thought that the site dates back to the Stone Age. The original site was further modified during the Bronze Age when a burial mound was constructed within the main stone circle. Its location with superb views of the Mourne Mountains and its size make it one of the most impressive stone circles in Ireland.

Photo comment By Lisa: Looking at this beautiful picture, how could anyone still not believe that there is a God????
Photo comment By Michael diamond: could you tell me the date of the photograph. Does it show the sun setting in the valley to the north of Slieve Donard? I am interested in whether the sun was used as an indication of midwinter sunset
